Sixty percent of Buffalo State Communication grads report getting full-time jobs in their field within a year of graduation, higher than the national average of 56%. The regional economy was reflected in the survey, with Buff State grads reporting a salary ($23,200) lower than the national average ($30,000). The data is based on 2008 grads.
Among other findings at the national level: the percentage of comm grads with at least one job offer dropped sharply from the previous year; more got telephone job interviews but fewer got in-person interviews; grads express less optimism about the job market; only half found any communication work (part-time or full-time), down from the previous year.
Buffalo State is one of 86 schools in the study conducted for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. See 2009 Annual Survey.
