The fall semester begins Aug 30 with approximately 80 freshmen Communication majors and an equal number of transfer students into the department's four majors. In total, the department includes about 650 undergraduates, making it the largest department in the School of Arts and Humanities and one of the three largest departments on campus.
The semester begins with 14 full-time faculty and 27 part-time instructors teaching 2,026 students in 75 sections of 41 different coures.
In 72 sections of courses specifically for Communication majors, 1,556 students are enrolled. The average class size is less than 22 students. Additionally 3 sections of Humanities core courses have 470 mostly non-Communication students.
This is based on preliminary data. Official data will be counted by mid-October.
