Screening of American Indian Video

The Communication Department is co-sponsoring a free showing of "No More Smoke Signals" Saturday (Nov. 6) 2-4 p.m. at the Burchfield Penney Art Center.
The video focuses on Kili Radio, "Voice of the Lakota Nation." It features people such as Roxanne Two Bulls, who’s trying to start over again on the land of her ancestors; the young DJ Derrick, who’s discovering his gift for Native hip hop music; Bruce, the white lawyer who for 30 years has been trying to free a militant fighting for American Indian rights; and John Trudell, an Indian activist who’s made a career as a musician in Hollywood.
The department's involvement is through its American Indian Media and Policy Initiative. The video screening is co-sponsored by the Native American Student Organization on campus.
